“You really like Italian.” Jean said as she took a seat at the table.

“What?” Paul asked. “Oh, well, I think Italian chefs do the best preparation and presentations for their dishes.”

The waitress came to take their drink order. Jean ordered a Jameson and Paul had a California Cabernet. Paul scanned the menu, decided, and placed the menu down on the table.

“That was fast.” Jean said.

“Linguini with clams, you just can’t go wrong there. We should order a side of garlic rolls. I read they were the best.”

Jean smiled. “I’ll have the same.”

The drinks arrived, and they both sat back while the waitress placed them down in front of them. “Are you ready to order?”

Paul gave the waitress his and Jean’s order and included the garlic rolls side order.

“We’re having a special on mozzarella sticks. The chef made too many.”

Paul glanced at Jean, and she nodded her approval.

“Sure.” Paul said. The waitress beamed on him and left.

“Do all the pretty women flirt with you?” Jean asked.

“Jean, I’ve told you before. There’s only one woman in my life and that’s you.”

Jean smiled. “OK.” She laid her hand down on top of his. “Thank you for going to the club with me.”

“No need to thank me. I wanted to go. Plus, spending time with you is important to me. Lauren is an intoxicating host.”

“I know, right?”

“How did you become involved in the scene?” Paul asked.

Jean’s hand flicked her hair around her ear. She looked away, thinking about her response, then returned smiling and locked on Paul’s eyes.

“I’ll tell you, but I don’t want our relationship to change.”

“I promise.” Paul said.

“Many years ago, I met a man who was into the local BDSM scene. He became my Dom. He brought me to Club Esoterica and gave me a horrible whipping in public. Mistress Lauren’s security stepped in and threw him out of the club. They must have threatened him because I never heard from him again.”

“I’m sorry to hear that happened to you.”

Paul nodded. “What about Marco? Is he Lauren’s sub?”

“Lauren and Marco have been together forever. They adore each other. I think they own a vineyard in Central California. I have never been there.”

“What about Alessandra?”

“I met her when I was in ‘training’ with Lauren at the Club. We have similar interests. I was supposed to meet her at the Club the night we met.”

“Her sub, Joe?”

“I’ve never met him before. For all I know, she met him tonight and paraded him around as her sub to everyone. She can be like that. Definitely a sadistic streak in her.”

Paul said nothing. The waitress arrived at their table, breaking the silence.

“Here are your garlic rolls.” She said and placed a basket smelling of warm bread and garlic down.

“Thanks.” Paul said.

The waitress smiled and left.

Paul looked up to see Jean’s eyes locked on him. “What?”

“You love all this attention you get from pretty women.
